piano men

sing me a song you're the piano man
sing me a song toniiiiiiiiight

rockin' elton-ish shades. :) harhar. i wanted white ones but didn't have time to get them.

ohmeohmy.
that was by far one of the best, and most emotional concerts i have ever been to (it tops spice girls. hardeehar).

i thought i was going to have to experience this concert on my own, as my parents had to sit somewhere else (i gave my ticket to my mom so she could go with my dad and bought a separate ticket for myself). but i met two nice couples and i was their adopted daughter for the night. :) (they were also surprised that i knew the lyrics to almost every billy joel/elton john song)

AND we got moved to the floor seats. sigh.

they started with "your song" and ended with "piano man". and when sir elton started singing "good bye yellow brick road" i wanted to cry and die and go to heaven. this is the song that made me love elton in the first place. and arrrrgghhhh "bennie and the jetsssss" was killer. i was dancing the whole night.

the two have mad piano skills and they are amazing together.
love always.

ps: i didn't bring my camera. these were all taken with jarvis. i didn't want to risk getting my camera confiscated. but blargh i should've brought it anyway because everyone else was doing it!

pps: i just wanted to say hello to everyone who's visiting this little blog for the first time! nice to meet you :) once i've slowed down i will catch up with blogs and comments, je promets.

hello :)

in point form:
- i am home!
- i've been home since last monday. harhar.
- i finished my box of laduree macarons. sob.
- they were a bit crunchy. but that's what you get for waiting till the last minute.
- i think may is my month because i can cross off a lot of things in my "to do list" which includes: paris, public speaking and seeing elton john this saturday!
- i gave a 15 minute speech to 150 people and it was warmly received. :)
- can i tell you how nervous and scared i was?!?!
- but it was not so bad once i started speaking. it's really in the beginning. just like the scariest part of your rollercoaster ride is just before you drop. hmmm...kinda like love. haha.
- i think i will make it a point to go to wonderland this year. i haven't gone in ages.
- can i tell you how much i love taylor swift?
- there i said it.
- i think writing when you are partially (and just partially) inebriated makes for good reading
- no, i'm not partially inebriated right now. i don't drunk-blog.
- or drunk-anything for that matter.
- "la timidité est mon ennemi" - that is my french teacher's motto in our french conversation class
- oooohhh, i will scan the paris polaroids soon. :)
- paris, i miss you.
- but toronto i still love you.
- friends, let's go out.
- how are you all?

au revoir, paris

a very rough summary of my paris trip:
60+ hours of walks around the city
30 metro tickets
20+ macarons
15 cafe cremes
10 boxes of laduree macarons
9 hours on the l'autoroute
7 churches
8 total orders of french fries
5 pairs of shoes
5 quiches
3 bike tours
3 cemeteries
3 gardens
3 dresses
3 museums
3 bowls of soupe a l'oignon
2 beaches
2 coats
1 eiffel tower
1 arc de triomphe
1 conciergerie
1 french revolution tour
1 blouse
1 baguette
1 bateau mouche

one very happy mel.

my dad and i took our last walk around the city.

as we did, i felt a lump in my throat and started tearing up.
yes, such was my reaction.
contrary to popular belief, the french/parisiens are not snobby at all.
of course you get that rude person now and then, but that exists in every country.
in my 10 days (yes, in just 10 days) here i got to experience that joie de vivre that i have always read about. it is all very admirable.

au revoir literally translated is to see somebody or something again.
and paris, i will definitely see you again.

je t'aime.

another post of pictures: giverny!

salut!

i fell in love with paris yesterday.
it took a while, but it feels more real now.
i will really miss it, but i will definitely come back. hopefully before the end of the year.

today we did our last bike tour with fat tire. we went to giverny/monet's gardens.
it was awesome.

here are some pictures from the tour.
